From early beginnings in my grandfather's basement rummaging through his triple decker Plano tackle box to fishing with him and my father anywhere I could, fishing has been in the blood. The school years were devoted to trolling the great lakes for salmon and trout and chasing steelhead in the tributaries. Wintering in Arizona while a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers, I met Roosevelt Lake guide Art Chamberlin. Art introduced me to tournament bass fishing and changed the direction of my fishing pursuits. Since that first tournament in 1989, I have been bass fishing local, regional and national tournaments as much as time would allow.
In 2016, I began another chapter in bass fishing as a USCG licensed guide on Lake St. Clair and connecting waters. The drive to succeed in professional sports is the same drive I have when heading out for a day of fishing on the big pond. As was the case in that first tournament, (Art caught the only keeper and I never got bit), you always learn something new, and that's the beauty of fishing.
